【🎋KAGUYA and the Moon Bunnies🎑】
【🎋 KAGUYA and the Moon Bunnies 🎑】This was a custom-ordered artwork 😊Thank you very much for your patience while I worked on it! The customer requested a piece that incorporated rabbits, and after that, they kindly left the rest to my imagination. An idea immediately came to mind, so I shared it with them, and we quickly agreed on the concept 🤝
The idea was simple yet magical: Princess Kaguya, dressed in a magnificent twelve-layer kimono (Junihitoe), rides upon the Moon. The rabbits serve as her messengers. According to Japanese folklore, rabbits live within the Moon, so I included silhouettes of rabbits pounding mochi inside the lunar surface. The foundation of the entire piece is the vastness of outer space.
Did you know about the fascinating “Hollow Moon Theory”? 🚀 During the Apollo 12 and Apollo 13 missions, used rocket stages were intentionally crashed into the Moon for scientific experiments. Seismic instruments reportedly recorded vibrations that continued for more than three hours, leading some people to describe the Moon as having “rung like a bell.” This sparked theories suggesting that the Moon might be hollow inside! 😁
Stories like this are so exciting and full of wonder 🛸
For this artwork, I imagined that the interior of the Moon is home to a community of rabbits, creating a whimsical world where the Moon Bunnies live together beneath its surface 🏠🐰🌕
