最近よく顔料って何？と聞かれます。私が長年愛用している顔料は、日本画材のとある顔彩。こけし工人になって、1年ほど経った頃のことです。鈴木明工人とお茶をしていた際、「これを使ってみなさい」と教えていただいたものです。当時、思っていたより顔彩の値段が高くてどーしよーって悩んだの覚えてます笑　

それから今に至るまで、顔彩は私の作品制作に欠かせない画材です。制作の幅が広がり、自分が表現したいものをカタチにすることができます。

まだ駆け出しだった私に、ご自身が使っている画材を惜しみなく教えてくださった鈴木明工人には感謝しかありません。今の私の制作スタイルを確立するうえで、大きなきっかけになりました。

Recently, I’ve often been asked, “What kind of pigment do you use?”

The pigments I have been using for many years are Japanese traditional painting pigments called Gansai.

It was about a year after I became a kokeshi craftsman. One day, while having tea with Kokeshi craftsman Akira Suzuki -san, he said to me, “You should try using this,” and introduced me to Gansai.

I remember being surprised that Gansai was more expensive than I had expected, and wondering, “Hmm… what should I do?” 😂

Since then, Gansai has remained an essential material in my work. It has greatly expanded the range of what I can create and allows me to bring the things I want to express into physical form.

I have nothing but gratitude for Akira Suzuki -san, who generously shared the materials he himself used with me when I was still just starting out.

His advice became an important turning point in establishing the artistic style I have today.
